Job Description:

SUNY Orange is seeking an Executive Director of Workforce Development who will be responsible for providing strategic and innovative leadership in advancing and managing workforce development programs, continuing of education, and other student and academic program advancement initiatives of the college. The Executive Director will be responsible for identifying, coordinating, and advancing the strategic public-private partnerships and work with businesses, trade groups, and community organizations to help stimulate the local and regional economic programs through workforce development initiatives. The Executive Director is also responsible for developing fee-based professional training programs, worker training and retraining programs as well as cultivate and launch contract and grant-sponsored workforce training, literacy and professional development programs, with a focus on addressing the needs of local and regional businesses and industries.
The Executive Director is part of the Management Confidential team and reports directly to the Vice President of Workforce Development, Strategy and Innovation. The Executive Director is primarily based on the Newburgh campus but is expected to travel between all campuses and other sites as well. The Executive Director's hours may vary to include evening and weekend work.


Requirements:

Education Required:
Bachelor's degree or higher

Experience Required: Five years of experience in an educational setting using knowledge of educational practice and workforce preparation, including supervisory responsibilities. Experience with program development and evaluation as well as demonstrated knowledge of local and state-wide business and industry priorities.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Master's degree
  • Community college or higher education experience.
  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationship with supervising personnel, coworkers, all constituents and the public.
  • Perform well under pressure, within time constraints, with a high degree of accuracy, diplomacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to coordinate work flow while dealing with multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to present complex information and data in coherent fashion
  • Must be able to travel between the college's two campuses and other sites.
  • Bilingual skills; fluency in Spanish.

    Salary range: $85,000 to 115,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. This is a 12 month Management Confidential position.
