Job Description

To empower students and alumni to confidently navigate their careers in Engineering and Applied Sciences as citizens of an evolving and global world. We offer a multitude of resources, workshops, and professional skill-building opportunities to ensure that students are achieving their educational and career goals - during and after their time in CEIAS.

Essential Functions

Career Programming - 30%
  • Resume/cover letter coaching one-on-one.
  • Mock interviews and career exploration one-on- one.
  • Job Search and Internship Strategies one-on-one.
  • In class and student org workshops (Strengths, resume, career overview, LinkedIn, interview skills).
  • Coordinating with industry to conduct mock interviews and career planning.
  • Academic and Career Success Hub - handle all logistics and drop in appointments.
  • Managing LinkedIn page, CEIAS career development webpage, creating resources to upskill students, building, maintaining, and distributing major career guides.
  • Creating, maintaining, and distributing career progression guides.
  • Advise capstone team involving Engineering Career Network.
  • Collect and analyze data about career paths, internships, and experiential learning opportunities
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends in hiring and career development theories.
  • Design ways for industry, alumni, and faculty to provide career advice and guidance to students in CEIAS
  • Develop objectives and activities based on department/program goal.

Event Planning - 20%
  • Plan, execute, market, and manage finances for 2 Career Fairs yearly interacting with over 100 employers (events make $25k-$30k in revenue yearly)
  • Organizing employer engagement opportunities such as information sessions, resume reviews, mock interviews, and all on-campus interviews
  • Schedule industry speakers for clubs, classes, departments, and the overall college for over 10- 15 events per semester
  • Point person for Handshake (job postings, developing fairs, creating interview schedules, mass communication to employers)

Relationship Management - 25%
  • Manage communication with company representatives, talent acquisition managers, and alumni
  • Plan yearly activities with key industry connections (i.e. Gore, Raytheon, Boeing, etc.) to create engagement with students and faculty
  • Drive key initiatives for student and employer engagement
  • Connect industry and faculty for relevant engagement opportunities
  • Promote opportunities for engagement through capstone and research.
  • Support recruitment and persistence opportunities (i.e. summer camps, industry visits, etc.)
  • Growing pipeline of industry connections- cultivating and establishing relationships with key partners and creating new relationships to grow industry presence in all departments
  • First point of contact for faculty and students for questions about industry connections and way to engage
  • Develop yearly and long term plans for recruitment activities for CEIAS students and for industry and graduate school engagement
  • Develop objectives and activities based on department/program goals.

Career Curriculum Integration - 15%
  • Proactively work with faculty to find ways to integrate career programming and development into the classroom and curriculum (present in classroom)
  • Co- lead the internship for credit course for Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (408)
  • First line of contact for all questions about internship for credit for CEIAS
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends in career development theory and curriculum integration best practices
  • Work with faculty and department chairs toimplement curriculum integration strategies and plans
  • Develop objectives and activities based on department/program goals.

Other - 5%
  • Develop, organize, and distribute Senior survey for the college and analyze results- distribute to Chairs for ABET accreditation data Organize opportunities for students to have experiential learning in industry (working closely with Development/faculty).
  • Managing and sorting all communications with industry wanting to hire a student for internship or full time.
  • Participate in Career Development Task Force with other Career Development professionals at NAU and across the state.
  • Represent CEIAS in many outward facing organizations (i.e. NACE, CLC, ASEE, statewide offices and conference).
  • Mentor students.
  • Manage two CEIAS Career Jacks, a Graduate intern, and a Graduate Assistant.
  • Provide technical advice, problem-solving assistance, answers to questions regarding program goals and policy interpretation.
  • Manage and evaluate the design, development, and coordination of college wide projects.
  • Prepare or coordinate preparation of financial and administrative reports; analyze and interpret statistics, financial data, and management planning data for predicting resource needs and developing long-range plans.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 3-5 years of program management experience.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Background Information

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. If you are applying for a job that requires a CDL, you will be required to register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and adhere to the clearinghouse requirements. Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States. Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. Salary

Salary range begins at $72,445. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

Benefits

This is a Service Professional (SPF) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System or the Optional Retirement Program; 22 days of vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. More information on benefits at NAU is available on the Human Resources benefits website. NAU is a tobacco and smoke-free campus. Service Professionals are hired on a contract basis, renewable each 6 months according to terms of the Conditions of Professional Service. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. If a new employee chooses the ASRS retirement option, participation in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, will begin on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of employment. Additionally, the long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of employment.
