About the Position:
The Athletics department at Cal State Fullerton strives to provide an intercollegiate athletics program that is an integral part of the total educational experience at California State University, Fullerton and fits within the overall mission of the University. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Human Resources Analyst (Administrative Analyst/Specialist-Non-Exempt). Under the general supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director/Business Chief Financial Officer, the Human Resources Analyst is responsible for the effective development and administration of the Human Resources function within the Department of Athletics. Conducts administrative and analytical work in support of hiring and retaining a dynamic and diverse workforce. Responsible for the full life cycle of the Athletic Department recruitment process from the point of initiation to onboardinq. Provides analysis, coordinates and prepares payroll, and solves payroll issues for all paid department personnel. In collaboration with Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, interprets and ensures compliance of Collective Bargaining, agreements and related federal, state, local and University employment laws, policies and regulations. Responsible for administering a successful and effective Cal State Fullerton CSURMA Athletic Injury Medical Expense (AIME) program. Works on problems that are diverse and complex in scope where analysis of situations requires a review of a variety of factors. Utilizes discretion and independent Judgment in handling confidential material and sensitive situations. Works in close coordination with Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, Payroll Services, Contracts and Procurement, Accounts Payable, Auxiliary Services, and other entities as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs. Working knowledge of the general practices, program or administrative specialty. Basic knowledge of and the ability to apply fundamental concepts. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the applicable program, organizational unit or administrative specialty. Knowledge of and the ability to apply basic methods and procedures used for research and statistical analysis. Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques. Ability to make independent decisions, exercise sound judgment, handle multiple priorities, and organize and plan work assignments. Ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Four years of related experience. Thorough knowledge of human resources practices. Experience in higher education. Knowledge of California State University polices and procedures; familiar with CSU collective Bargaining Agreement. Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, policies, and regulations.
